यस रणनीतिक निर्णय प्रक्रिया अन्तर्गत संगठनको नीति, नियम, उद्देश्य तथा साधनश्रोतको आधारमा विभिन्न वातावरणीय तत्वहरुको विश्लेषण गरी विकल्पहरुको विकास गरिन्छ यसपछि ती विकल्पहरुलाई उपयुक्तता, स्वीकार्यता र सम्भाव्यताको आधारमा मूल्याङ्कन गरिन्छ । अन्तमा, उत्तम विकल्पको छनौट गरी कार्यान्वयन गरिन्छ । 

According to Wheelen and Hunger, 'Strategic decision deals with the long run future of an organization and are rare, consequential and directive.रणनीतिक निर्णयहरु सङ्गठनको दीर्धकालीन कार्यसम्पादन सँग सम्वन्धित हुन्छन् र यिनीहरु दुर्लभ , परिणामात्मक तथा निर्देशनात्मक हुन्छन् । 

According to Jauch and Glueck, 'Strategic decision are means to achieve ends. the decisions encompass the definition of the business; products and market to be served, functions to be performed and major policies needed for the organization to execute these decisions to achieve objectives.' रणनीतिक निर्णयहरु अन्तिम नतिजा प्राप्त गर्ने माध्यम हुन् । यस्ता निर्णयहरुले व्यवसायको परिभाषा, प्रदान गरिने वस्तु तथा सेवाको बजार, सम्पन्न गर्नुपर्ने कार्यहरु तथा निर्णयहरु कार्यान्वयन गरी उद्देश्य हासिल गर्न चाहिने मुलभूत नीतिहरु समेट्छन् । 

अन्तमा, रणनीतिक निर्णय भन्नाले प्रतिप्रधात्मक लाभको लागि संगठनको क्षेत्र र निर्देशन संग सम्वन्धित विभिन्न विकल्पहरु मध्ये उत्तम विकल्पको छनौट गरी संगठनात्मक लक्ष्य तर्फ अगाडी वढ्ने प्रक्रिया हो ।
